Crawford Area Transportation Authority (CATA) is soliciting letters of interest from Crawford County residents interested in serving as a member of the CATA Board of Directors. This available seat is for an 18-month term from July 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027. Letters of interest should be sent to Tim Geibel, Executive Director, at CATA, 214 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335 or tgeibel@catabus.org by May 4, 2026. Members will be appointed by the Crawford County Commissioners.

CATA Announces Return to Full Service

The Crawford Area Transportation Authority (CATA) is proud to announce that the fixed route bus system in Meadville will be returning to full service hours, effective October 10, 2022. In preparation for this change, CATA will post flyers on all Meadville fixed route buses and in bus shelters. Detailed route information will be posted on catabus.org and on the MyStop App. Subscribers of CATA's website will also receive email notification of the changes. New schedules will be available on September 23rd.

CATA routes on Google Maps

CATA is pleased to launch all Crawford County routes including Lifeline routes on Google Maps. In your Internet browser, visit www.google.com and enter your destination and under directions you can now see CATA bus routes available alongside driving, walking and other options.

Google Transit has been an excellent platform for transit agencies across the country to place their route maps online. CATA is pleased to join the Google Transit family and have our route maps available to anyone anywhere!

During visits to Legislators in Harrisburg recently, CATA General Manager Tim Geibel caught up with Erie News for a segment on the MATP Broker issue. Currently the PA Senate Health and Human Service Committee approved SB390 which seeks to stop the RFA process and require independent studies on the issue before any broker model could be implemented. Stay tuned for more updates on the topic!

CATA GM signs letter to Governor

CATA General Manager Tim Geibel, current Board Chairman for the PA Public Transportation Association signed a letter last week asking the Governor to take immediate action to cancel the award of RFA 28-18 better known as the Medical Assistance Transportation Program Broker Solicitation.

FREE bus service over Smock Bridge

n partnership with the City of Meadville, West Mead Township and Vernon Township, pedestrians accessing the Smock bridge sidewalk in Meadville over winter months while the sidewalk is closed can get a free ride via the Green Route . The free stops can be accessed at Giant Eagle in Vernon Township and along Willow St near Chestnut. Free rides are only valid for those boarding at these 2 designated stops.
