Meadville Bikeshare
Bike Share is a service in which bicycles are made available for shared use to individuals on a short term basis. Bike share systems allow people to rent a bike from a "dock" and return it at another dock belonging to the same system. Docks are special bike racks that lock the bike, and only release it by smart phone Bluetooth control.
Bike Share programs are not just limited to big cities. Bike Shares can be effective in smaller, rural communities to increase mobility and provide options for people who do not want to drive. As the public transportation provider for Crawford and Venango Counties, CATA is excited launch a bike share program for the Meadville area. Through local sponsorships to CATA's non-profit organization the
Northwest Pennsylvania Mobility Alliance, Inc, we are proud to re-launch Meadville bikeshare for 2023. 30 bikes are in the process of being deployed throughout the community with more locations to be announced later this year.

The Northwest Pennsylvania Mobility Alliance, Inc supports the furtherance of mobility options for the Northwest Pennsylvania region. Specifically, the Alliance is focused on raising funds and awareness to alternative forms of mobility to include bikeshare, micromobility and more! The Alliance also supports expanded public transportation options and provides funding to offset the cost of transportation for residents of the region that cannot afford transit fares.
